More than 930 cases of measles have been reported in Romania since the beginning of 2016; this compares to a total of seven cases reported in 2015. The country has been issued with a ‘Watch-Level 1’ travel advisory by the US Centres for Disease Control which indicates that there is a slightly elevated risk of contracting the contagious viral disease. Travellers should check that they are vaccinated against measles and to follow strict hygiene precautions during their stay.

Cabin crew working for British Airways ‘Mixed Fleet’ have rejected a two percent pay offer; a vote for strike action commences this Wednesday 16 November and the ballot will close on Wednesday 14 December. If industrial action goes ahead, this could potentially affect the holiday season over Christmas and New Year.
New Zealand
Aftershocks are continuing following a powerful 7.5 earthquake which struck New Zealand’s South Island shortly after midnight on Monday 14 November. The epicentre was located approximately 32 miles northeast of Amberley and 57 miles north-northeast of Christchurch. The tremors have affected Kaikoura District and regions of Canterbury and Marlborough; more than 60 buildings in Wellington’s business district sustained damage.
India
A large-scale rally and march led by several Muslim organisations is scheduled to take place in Delhi on Friday 18 November. Thousands of supporters are expected to participate which could cause significant disruption to ground transportation, particularly along the march route which begins at Jantar Mantarand proceeds along Sansad marg, culminating at Parliament house. Travellers are advised to review their plans to allow additional time to reach their destination.
